PERSEVERANCE

In a small village in Northern Thailand family owned and locally operated farms produce the majority of the countries small red onions. The woman pictured here is a farm hand who bundles bushels all day long with twenty others.

I chose this woman as my subject because of her unique beekeeper style hat. The day was excruciatingly hot, the woman (and all the other workers) was sheltered from the sun by a wooden roof, yet her hat remained on. In Asian culture maintaining fair skin is highly prized, the fairer your skin the more affluent you are perceived to be.
